Fashion Daydreamer: Tribute

Since I’m a sorta kinda shopping hiatus, I’m starting a series of wishlists (yes, with -s) of the things I want that some I evidently cant buy and some I have to think over again and again, hoping that I’ll eventually tire of wanting. haha.

Ok, so I’ve been hearing the word tribute for the past week, and if we are in the same wavelength, you know what I’m talking about. Are these “tributes” calling out to me? Nah, I obviously cant buy it, and even if I could, it will never get past my conscience. So, unless I have a generous benefactor in the future, I can only have it in pictures.

But let’s just say I live in a dreamworld where I could walk into a YSL (or Saint Laurent, as of late) store and buy one pair, then this will be it.

The Tribute Two Pump Shoe in Black Leather

Not too high, just perfect.

Have a great weekend everyone!

There is a great deal of art in the hands of a talented photographer. My husband, who takes up photography as a hobby, told me that most people think that anyone who owns a SLR is a photographer. I have seen our friend Evan take beautiful pictures with his standard point and shoot camera. I also know of people who take in clients and do photo gigs even if some find their talent questionable. And what about those, God forbid, instagram selfies (my current #1 peeve)?

Michelle Morelos is name that is familiar to most photography enthusiats. It is no wonder that husband got her as the photographer for our son’s first birthday. but bad news is, she will be migrating to Canada, so as a last hurrah, she is offering family pictorials.

Photo courtesy care of Michelle Morelos.

The photo above contains all the information you need. And you can spot husband, me and Matteo on the lower right hand corner.

Have a nice day!

It’s kinda obvious that I love Forever 21. Sure there are days that I seriously hate the quality of some of the items, but you cant deny the versatility and the wide range of styles that cater to almost anyone. The prices are fair, and when they go on sale, they really dip low. So I always find myself going in F21 whenever I’m in Megamall or SM Makati (my husband can attest to that!)

Speaking of which, I remember that one time F21 had a 3 day sale, and my friend Rubi and I had decided to meet up (because of course, this is a major, major event! lol). I was deep in concentration with my rack browsing duties when something caught my attention. There was a woman, well into her sixties, browsing the rack beside me. I immediately thought, “Will that be me years from now?”. haha.

So Forever 21 is really forever?

They should really make a campaign out of that. Instead of models in their teens and 20s, they should have women and men in their 50s and 60s wear and pose with their clothes. That would be genius!

Ok, enough of the silly talk. I’m here to talk about the collab they have with Melissa shoes for the Spring/Summer 2013. Melissa shoes are made of this heavenly smelling rubber and are the comfiest of shoes. They are a bit expensive though, so imagine my glee when I found out of the collab. That means affordable prices. Though it isnt released in the Philippines yet, my friend Kitty kindly bought it for me! Yahoo!!!

So here are the babies which will soon be mine! Come to mommy! =)

Mel for Forever 21 Geo Mini Wedge in black

My cousin in law, Reah also ordered the same style in Jellybean, which was equally divine. The hoarder in me wanted it also, but of course I had to go with black.

Nude sandal love! How cute is this thong sandal with the owl design?

I also wanted the Mel for Forever 21 studded sandals in green but husband and Rubi were against it. Oh well, my friend Antonette ordered black in this style.

You can check out the rest of the collection here.

When I texted Reah if she wanted anything from the collection, she replied, “Ever the temptress!” (hence, the title). But seriously guys, I AM THE VICTIM HERE (lol!). I just liked Kitty’s instagram photo of the owl sandal, then she sent me the collection link and asked me to pick and she’ll buy for me. Is Kitty the real temptress? I think so!

Ok, you can all roll your eyes at me now. haha.

Have a great day guys!

I love skirts. I guess you all know that by now. It’s light, it doesn’t cling to your legs, and not a lot a people wear them. I think Filipinos are mostly partial to jeans. I did not own a pair of jeans for the last two years because just thinking about wearing them makes my legs sweat, but I had just had to cave in to a pair at the last Forever 21 sale!

Enough said, on with skirts. Just like your trusty jeans, they have a style for every body type. As I am a petite one, I like my skirts a little bit short. As if fate allows it, I like them with a bit of drama. Enter Exhibit A.

Top: Zara
Skirt: Tyler (on sale)

The people behind Tyler have low tolerance for the ordinary, so during the times I would happen to browse their racks (on sale season of course!), I would keep thinking, “Where and when in the world can I wear this?”. Most of their pieces are not in my realm of “wearable”. And when I picked up this skirt, I didnt know how to wear it. But when I did try it on, whoa it was genius! The draping was perfect and unique. Cashier please!

It can be styled in so many ways! It can be casual with a tee like this, or paired with a lace top and stilettos for a night out.

Up on the Wall

I have always loved writing, which I think brings me back to why I started this blog. I have very few writing stints, the first one being 7 or 8 years old when I wrote for my mom’s office newletter. Aside from a few articles here and there, its mostly for my own enjoyment.

There are things that I consider my “earnings” in putting up this blog. I dont get sponsors, but I did gain a good friend.

Maco Custodio has been in several blog entries since the time I interviewed him for last year’s Manila Fame. A few months after, I tagged along with my friend Nio for Maco’s S/S 2013 photoshoot. Then after I got a message from him-he wanted to meet up with me for a writing project.

Now if you think that Maco is another up and coming fashion designer, then you havnt read the fashion fine print. Maco is a shoe designer known even internationally.  Last year he appeared on a coffee table book called Shoegasm that features cutting edge  shoe designs. Kasama lang naman dun sila Alexander Mcqueen and Christian Louboutin. No biggie. LOL.

Stolen borrowed from Maco’s instagram:

So anyway, our main project at that time was to do a company profile for his collection at Myth, a boutique in Greenbelt. I was mostly confused as to why he picked me to write his profile, but what I thought was a meeting turned out to be a fun dinner most about him whining (ahhhh, fame and good fortune can cause a lot of problems, Maco! *roll eyes LOL!)  and just talking about how he came about as a designer. Pretty inspiring I tell you.

I sent him my first draft and he commented a little bit here and there.  I revised the draft and a few days later I received an email reply with three words: I LOVE IT!

And with pride and joy I am pleased to show you this!

I took this (fast!) when we were at Greenbelt a few months back. My mom was with me, and I proudly pointed it to her and said, “Ako nagsulat niyan!”.  Sorry its so blurry, but there’s what I wrote:

Maco Custodio is a designer  whose love for leather is interpreted in his innovative creations, combining art and design with structure and form. His roots can be traced with a background in the shoe making business, nevertheless he worked from the ground up. After obtaining a degree at the University of Santo Tomas in Industrial Design, he pursued further studies at the Philippine Footwear Academy and in China for shoe engineering. He spent his early working days in one of the biggest names in the shoe retail business, as well as in one of Manila’s known bespoke designer shoes label.

It was the fated collaboration with JC Buendia’s 2008 fashion show that served as a springboard for Maco’s career. The distinct quality and style that his footwear creations have demonstrated cannot be ignored. The world simply cannot be satiated of what Maco has to offer, judging by the sheer number of local and international fashion features. His aesthetics are bold and confident, inspired by both art deco and the bauhaus movement. His shoes brought something fresh with its silhouttes that Maco describes seemingly akin to furnitures, structural and graceful at the same time.  It is truly a wonder what this designer can do with the animal hide. In 2012, he has  taken the fashion industry again by surprise by venturing into bags and accessories, still with leather but now with playful tones and combined elements. Currently, he is taking challenges to the next  level by developing a new line of men shoes. Asked if there is something he still wants to do in the future, Maco would simply say, “More”.

I know its trivial for some, my name doesnt even appear on the profile itself but what I feel great most about it is that Maco trusted me enough to write for him when all he saw was my blog. It reminded me that I can write-a little.

I wont go borderline mushy, Maco must be cringing now. Haha. Thanks for the opportunity though! And thank you Nio Manzano!

To God be the glory! In all things!
